For those who have Netflix, check out a program called "Inside the Freemasons" It is Freemasons in England and follows real Freemasonry better than any program I have seen. Very good explanation of what we do and what we are all about. Five episodes.

From Masonic Families of the Allegheny Valley

Anyone available next Sunday September 23rd at 4 PM at the Lodge? I heard a lot of ideas and changes that we can make for next year. Don't want them to get away from us. This was a great event. Should have been much larger except for the bad weather the week before. Invite everyone, Mason or not, man or woman and especially younger people. That is where some of the NEW ideas can come from. I was not really interested in visiting the back of the Mall for burn outs, not my thing usually. But I went, and was surprised! There was a rather large crowed. More, I noticed they were nearly all young. Many of our new (younger) brothers were approached and asked about Masonry and what we do. I saw a younger generation, having fun and enjoying them selves with out drugs or alcohol. Can we come up with a way to show people there is a better way? Please forward this message to anyone who may be interested.

To all my brothers and sisters that helped in any way Sunday at the Car Cruise for JDRF, THANK YOU!! A lot of work for all of us but what a great time. You are making this old man feel young again..... until I try to stand up. Then the old comes back. Thanks all.

Brother Steven Miller still has some JDRF T-shirts left from the car cruise. Contact him while he still has most sizes left. $10 each.

From Masonic Families of the Allegheny Valley

This just came to my attention. On August 16th this year. The Order of Eastern Star visited the Erie Shriners Hospital for Children, with check in hand. Grand Esther, Coralee J. Rittenhouse, along with other members of the Order, handed the medical center a check for $15,428 and took a tour of the medical center. Rittenhouse says, "I'm so glad that Emily McCarthy, Grand Matron, asked me to make this presentation to Shriners Hospital for Children. My husband's a Shriner and we're all in the Masonic family, so we're really excited to present this money to the medical center." David Schumacher, development officer, Shriners Hospital for Children is grateful for the donation. "Donations like these are so important because they go directly to our mission of providing the highest quality orthopedic care for kids, regardless of the families' ability to pay."

Hurricane Florence seems to be turning the other way and will give us good weather for the Car Cruise Sunday. We are expecting over 200 show cars, a monster truck that will be crushing a car, motorcycles, trucks and anything on wheels with a motor. Walmart will be there for diabetes screening. I'm told that many burn outs will take place behind the mall at the end of the Show. Remember, that is the purpose of this event, raising money for the Juvenal Diabetes Research Foundation.

We are looking into traveling to a lodge in Ohio to observe a lodge meeting and possibly a degree. If this generates enough interest, we will consider visiting in New York state also. These visits frequently produce a reciprocal visit from the lodge we visit. If you are interested, please contact Rich Palm and we will begin the search.

Our first Lodge meeting of the fall season will be next Tuesday, September 4th. Much to be discussed including the 2nd annual car cruse next Sunday. See you there.
